Requirements
- The scholarship is intended for musicians between the ages of 20 and 30 who have some prior experience in the music industry and possess a strong command of the English language.
- The program has a special emphasis on the skills of people in (Central) Asia, the Middle East, and the Global South.
- After a global application process, the talents are chosen via the Goethe-global Institut’s network.
Benefits
- The Goethe-Institut will pay the participation fee, lodging, travel costs, and hospitality (per diem) from August 24 to September 4 in 2023.
- The Goethe-Institut will also assist with visa matters and book and pay for any necessary flights.
- Also, Musicboard Berlin will arrange lodging (with breakfast included), pay for health insurance, and provide public transportation inside Berlin in addition to providing free festival tickets and access to Pop-professional Kultur’s networking area for all acts.
- The program offers a range of activities to experience Berlin’s “music city” before the Festival itself, including studio visits, intensive jam sessions, brief traineeships in chosen businesses in Berlin’s creative industries, listening sessions, and meetings with Musicboard Berlin GmbH scholarship recipients, among many other things.
- Highlights of the promotion and exchange program include taking part in Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs, the festival’s official talent program, working closely with each other in the studio, and, of course, attending the entire Live program of Pop-Kultur.

- We want documentation of your participation in at least three projects, and you must have job experience in the music industry.
- We anticipate your drive for collaboration and interest in working with a diverse group in the realm of music performance and production.
- All additional costs that might arise during your stay are entirely your responsibility.
- All applications are solely for specific individuals. No accompanying individuals may receive sponsorship or be enrolled in the program.
- You must pay back the Goethe-Institut and Musicboard Berlin for all fees incurred if you miss your scheduled trip or abruptly cancel the program.
