The African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award 2023 is now accepting applications. The Grants are available to 10 meritorious African graduate students majoring in fields of study related to agricultural management and plant nutrition.

The African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI), a non-profit research and instruction organization with headquarters in Benguérir, Morocco, was established in 2019. Their goal is to improve plant nutrition for an Africa that is resilient and has access to food.

Award

  • The ten meritorious graduate students from Africa will receive awards totaling USD $2,000 apiece.

Eligibility

Graduate students are qualified if they meet the following criteria:

  • currently enrolled in an African university that awards degrees.
  • Candidates for the M.Sc., M.Phil., or Ph.D. degrees who, as of the application deadline, were enrolled in a graduate program. Students pursuing an M.Sc. or an M.Phil. must be in their second year of study to be eligible. Candidates who have already earned their degrees are not qualified.
  • Students with an interest in plant nutrition who are studying soil science, agronomy, horticulture, or tree crop science are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous recipients of the Prize are ineligible.

Application

You must submit the following documents in either English or French to complete the application procedure.

  • All university work transcripts, including cumulative and final grade records, are available online (GPA or percentile).
  • Two letters of recommendation, one of which should come from the principal professor, in electronic form. The sender’s phone number and email address must be included in all letters, along with their signature and use of business letterhead.
  • A description of the main topic of your thesis or dissertation study that is presented in a way that allows readers to assess the research’s originality, depth, and scope as well as its relevance and creative approaches.
  • A succinct summary of any other material that would be pertinent to the award (such as honours or awards you have received, employment history, career goals, and other activities you pursue).
