Awards for Fellowships
Outstanding master’s, PhD, and medical students can apply for one of three fellowships to carry out foreign research projects, internships, and other activities. These fellowships are intend to improve already-existing study programs by adding money for overseas assignments that complement ongoing or upcoming scientific research.

Candidates can participate in fellowships for two weeks to six months and receive up to €10,000 in funding. Individuals studying in Germany will complete internships in another nation. and those studying abroad will have to complete their fellowships at a German research center.
Eligibility
- Candidates for the Otto Bayer Fellowships for Drug Discovery Sciences must be doing their graduate-level coursework toward an MSc or PhD (or an equivalent degree) in a natural scientific, pharmacy, or data science field. Postdoctoral researchers and undergraduate students are not eligible.
- Candidates for the Jeff Schell Fellowships for Agricultural Sciences must be enrolled in graduate-level coursework toward an MSc or PhD (or an equivalent degree) in a natural science or data science. Postdoctoral researchers and undergraduate students are not eligible.
- For the Carl Duisberg Fellowships in Medical Sciences, candidates must be enrolled in a program leading to a human or veterinary medicine degree, an MSc or PhD (or an equivalent degree), or a program in medical engineering, applied medical sciences, public health, or data science in medicine. Postdoctoral researchers in medical engineering, applied medical science, public health, and data science in medicine, as well as undergraduate students, are not permitted.
