Every year on February 2, International Wetlands Day is observed to promote awareness of wetlands. The Convention on Wetlands, which was ratified as an international agreement in 1971, also celebrates its anniversary on this day.

Regarding the Grant
The Convention on Wetlands is inviting individuals, community organizations, and social enterprises to submit pitches of project ideas or initiatives that aim to contribute to healthy wetlands by either promoting conservation, restoration, or improved management on World Wetlands Day 2023, with the theme “It’s Time for Wetland Restoration.”
- The winning creative concept or effort will get a donation from Danone of 10,000 euros.
Pitch for the Grant 2023 is looking to support concepts or methods used in current or upcoming projects anywhere in the world that have the potential to be implemented and replicated in locales with comparable features.
Among the acceptable concepts are:
- Methods for resource management, conservation, and restoration of wetland ecosystems and their resources
- Community involvement or work toward a goal that benefits wetlands, such as designating a location as a protected area or doing wetland cleanup activities, etc.
- programs to encourage the development of alternative livelihoods to lessen impact on wetlands
- Efforts or measures that will result in the long-term preservation and protection of wetlands
- An academic or research endeavor to better our understanding of wetlands
Who may take part
- Anyone who is at least 18 years old who wishes to apply for the grant may do so individually or as a member of a nonprofit or social enterprise.
