Award
The global platform of the best climate change communication efforts will feature all eligible projects.
A high-level event will be held in the fall of 2023 to announce the finalists, the winner of the CMCC Climate Change Communication Award “Rebecca Ballestra,” and any special mentions that the jury may decide to make. The author(s) of the winning project will get the chance to speak about their work and project during the event and will also be given a monetary award of €5,000.
Eligibility
- open to anybody, regardless of nationality, in individuals, teams, or organizations.
- Projects, initiatives, and tools that communicate climate change through a variety of media, including the arts, theater, podcasting, music, photography, journalism, gaming, education, data visualization, editorial content, and the use of digital channels and tools, must be presented in eligible submissions. Scientific papers and projects aimed at improving capacity are not considered communication projects and are therefore ineligible.
- All of the activities, programs, and technologies must already be accessible to the general public. Projects without links, materials, or images proving their existence won’t be taken into consideration.
- The candidate may be the team leader or project author, depending on the situation. The actual individual, group, or organization responsible for the invention, creation, or design of the submitted project is the author. When the consent of an intellectual property owner is required, it is the applicants’ responsibility to get that consent before submitting the final materials.
Evaluation Method
- A jury made up of highly qualified individuals who represent the multidisciplinary character of climate change communication will judge the projects that have been submitted. To lessen the strain on the jurors, the suggestions might be pre-selected.
- The worldwide jury evaluates submissions using the following standards:
- Expected/observed impact of innovation and engagement
- Ability to connect with a wide range of audiences (beyond the climate science community)
- Dependability of data and information
