In response to a recognized need for young West Africans’ practical skills to be developed in a systematic manner, WACSI launched the Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP) in January 2008 with the goal of fostering the next generation of African academics and practitioners. The program primarily targets young West Africans seeking job experience in the main areas of work of WACSI, whether they are recent graduates or early-career professionals. Interns are expected to dedicate six months to WACSI, during which time they will actively participate in all WACSI events and advance their skills in a variety of areas, including leadership, program management, and crucial development concerns for West Africa.

·     Therefore, WACSI is seeking an intern from the West Africa sub-region who is eager to broaden their sense of civic responsibility and advance their career.
·     They will be integrated into WACSI’s primary job areas, which include knowledge management and policy influencing and advocacy.
·     A first degree in international relations, political science, public policy, law, development studies, or a closely connected discipline is required of applicants.
·     The management of civil society and nonprofit organizations should also be of interest to applicants.

·     This internship is completely sponsored. The institution will provide interns with complete support, including round-trip airfare to and from their home country, furnished housing, lunch on workdays for the duration of the internship, and a monthly stipend.
Eligibility
·     Candidates having a strong command of English, French, or Portuguese as well as a working knowledge of one language will be given preference.
·     The chosen intern will work for the majority of the internship at the WACSI headquarters in Accra, Ghana.
·     January 2023 through June 2023 are the assigned internship months. If an intern is unable to finish the six-month internship, they must reimburse WACSI for the full cost of the internship package.
