A group of young leaders from around the world are brought to the United States by the McCain Fellowship for Freedom (MFF) for an exchange with decision-makers, thinkers, American businesspeople, and others in order to gain knowledge and create the networks required to foster resilient democracies based on economic freedom.
The IRI McCain Fellowship for Freedom 2023 cultivates a generation of political changemakers who are constructing more inclusive, transparent, and resilient democracies supported by free markets by encouraging peer-to-peer learning, offering focused training, and doing so.
The Fellowship pays homage to the spirit and legacy of Senator John McCain, who served as the chairman of the IRI for 25 years and was an ardent supporter of democracy in all countries. He was also the former chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee and held the view that “free markets are not possible without free people.”
Fellows create Leadership Enhancement Action Plans (LEAPs) to guide their own objectives. IRI creates chances for the Fellows to maintain contact with previous, present, and upcoming McCain Fellows when they return home. McCain Fellows maintain their membership in IRI’s global network of young leaders devoted to democratization and economic openness in their nations through this continuous engagement.
