Who are we looking for?

Startups with a focus on innovation that are enhancing access to assistive technology through digital means or providing digital assistive technology solutions for use in a variety of areas, including education, healthcare, livelihoods, and others.

Authentic founder with a mission (s)
Teams with a problem-solving, continuous learning, and empathy culture
Teams that are well-organized and have clear ownership, commitment, duties, and accountability (systems, processes and resources)

The cohort for Innovate Africa’s assistive technology: Innovate Now, was introduced in 2019 as a part of the Global Disability Innovation Hub-led, £40 million AT2030 program. Implemented by a group of partners that includes Kilimanjaro Blind Trust and Amref Health Africa (primary implementing partner 2019–2021). (Live Labs implementing partner and new lead implementing partner). A new wave of momentum in African innovation is being created by a partnership between the Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub), ICT Norway, and Norad called Todays Innovation Now.

What do you expect?

Access to mentors and subject matter experts in entrepreneurship and assistive technologies from Kenya and around the world.


Access to our expanding network of Live Labs, a novel idea that lets you test directly with people with disabilities throughout East Africa and get their input.


Access to our investor network, investor preparation initiatives, and funding ecosystem, including the AT Impact Fund, innovation advisory and investment services, and the Norwegian community of practice.


Technical assistance refers to actual, hands-on help with the things your startup needs to flourish, including legal, marketing, finance, experimental design, investor preparedness, and pitching skills.


Access to our partner network of firms, NGOs, universities, funders, experts in assistive technology, people with disabilities, and inclusive design, as well as our global inclusive innovation ecosystem.
