World Forum for Democracy’s 2022 edition (Fully Funded to Strasbourg)

Applications for the world forum for democracy 2022 edition are ongoing. “Democracy: A New Hope?” is the theme of the World Forum for Democracy’s 2022 edition.
Discussions about effective initiatives and activities, which start with actual initiatives, will make up the majority of the Forum’s material. Then, broad guiding concepts will be developed to inspire and aid future fieldwork and policy responses. In this setting, the Youth Department will invite 50–60 young people to take part in a discussion about democracy and information with decision-makers and opinion-formers.

ATTENTION:

Each applicant must provide two parts:

Please log in before filling out the online application form by clicking the Forum’s title above.
You should upload a one-minute video on YouTube and include a link with your online application (see instructions below).
The application form must be submitted online by Tuesday, August 2, 2022, CET 13:00 (1 p.m.), along with, if necessary, a letter of support from your NGO or sending organization. Please submit an email to youthapplications[at]coe.int in the event that you experience any technical difficulties using the platform.

Eligibility

Youth applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be chosen and attend the World Forum 2022: 
Be between the ages of 18 and 30 (exceptions may be made in special cases); 
Be able to communicate and work in English; Actively participate in civil society democracy initiatives; 
Be motivated to contribute to developing new ideas on youth and democracy; 
Be prepared to share own challenges faced in relation to democracy; Be prepared to adopt a solution-oriented approach by bringing in new ideas.

These requirements and a submitted video will be used to select the youth representatives. No matter a candidate’s gender, disability, marital status, parental status, racial, ethnic, or social origin, color, religion, creed, or sexual orientation, the Council of Europe welcomes applications from anybody who fits the aforementioned characteristics.

Each applicant must provide two parts:

  1. To apply online, go on this link: https://youthapplications.coe.int/Application-forms
  2. You should upload a brief, one-minute video to YouTube or another easily accessible video site and provide a link to it in your online application (see instructions below).
    This video ought to explain why we should pick you to attend this specific WFD.
    The application won’t be taken into consideration if the video’s link is inaccessible. One week prior to the submission deadline, candidates should email the secretariat at WFDYouth@coe.int if they do not want to publish on a public platform due to concerns about their personal safety.

Application deadline
Before Tuesday, 2 August 2022 CET 13:00, the application form must be submitted online together with the video link (1 p.m.). Please submit an email to youthapplications@coe.int in the event that you experience any technical issues while using the site. Please contact WFDYouth@coe.int by email with any more inquiries. Applying ahead of time will allow you to confirm that your registration is complete and address any potential technical issues. Applications that are incomplete or are submitted after the deadline will not be considered for any reason.


Operative language
English will be used as the event’s primary working language. To function and communicate effectively, candidates must be able to utilize English on their own.


Traveling costs
In accordance with Council of Europe regulations, travel and visa fees will be refunded upon presentation of the necessary receipts. Only those who show up for the whole event—including the pre-Forum meeting and the World Forum—can receive reimbursement. After the World Forum, the payment will be made via bank transfer. Only unusual and legitimate circumstances allow for the arrangement of pre-paid travel tickets.

Accommodation

During the activity dates, the Council of Europe will pay for board and accommodation (arrival on Friday 4th November and departure on Thursday 10th November). Accommodations for participants are provided at the European Youth Center in Strasbourg (EYCS). It could be necessary for you to share a room. To achieve complete inclusion and desirable working circumstances, the EYCS is fully accessible to young people with disabilities and prepared to make accommodations for their unique requirements. The rooms come with Wi-Fi.
