Applications are actually open for the 2026 World Press Photo Contest. The annual World Press Photo Contest acknowledges and celebrates one of the best photojournalism and documentary images produced over the past 12 months.

Requirements

  • Entering the World Press Photo Contest is free and open to all skilled photographers working within the discipline of photojournalism and/or documentary images.

Benefits


As a winner, your work will probably be:

  • Included within the annual touring exhibition seen by over 4 million guests, proven all over the world in over 80 cities
  • Published on our web site and social platforms with over 2 million followers
  • Included in our annual yearbook, out there in six languages with a worldwide distribution of greater than 30,000 copies

You can even obtain:

  • €1,000 for every of the winners and an extra €10,000 for the World Press Photo of the Year winner
  • FUJIFILM GFX cameras and lenses will probably be awarded to the World Press Photo of the Year winner and two finalists
  • An invitation to a winners’ occasion in Amsterdam for all winners
  • A bodily award for all winners

  • Entries open: 1 December 2025
  • Entries shut: 17 January 2026, 13.00 CET (Amsterdam time)
  • Contest winners announcement: March/April 2026
  • Photo of the Year (with two finalists) announcement: April 2026
  • Flagship World Press Photo Exhibition 2026 opens in Amsterdam: April 2026
