South Central Youth Leadership Coalition Fellowship: Equipping LA Youth to Lead in Climate Action


Empowering the Next Generation of Climate Leaders
The South Central Youth Leadership Coalition (SCYLC) Fellowship is designed to equip younger leaders in Los Angeles with the data, instruments, and confidence to create lasting change in their communities. The program is devoted to nurturing youth ages 18-25 who’re enthusiastic about local weather motion, environmental justice, and social impression.

 

Fellowship Overview
This 10-month fellowship supplies youth with hands-on coaching and professional mentorship to lead in local weather innovation. Fellows will interact in bi-weekly, in-person workshops on Saturdays from 12–3 PM, starting February 7, 2026 at Mercado La Paloma. A specialised GIS course will start on August 8, 2026, to give fellows extra sensible expertise in geographic info techniques (GIS) mapping.

 

Program Benefits

  • $5,000 stipend to assist your participation.
  • Upon completion, fellows can apply for seed funding to launch their very own group impression tasks.
  • Gain direct entry to consultants and leaders in local weather and environmental justice actions.

 

Meet the Changemakers
The program is led by seasoned activists and consultants who’ve made important impacts in environmental justice:

  • Nalleli Cobo – Environmental justice activist and Goldman Environmental Prize winner, who helped shut down a poisonous oil drilling website in South Los Angeles.
  • Monic Uriarte – Co-founder of People Not Pozos, devoted to advancing group well being and protections towards city drilling.
