Applications are open for the UNESCO Quantum Course for Women Scientists in Africa 2025. Quantum science and applied sciences are quickly shaping the way forward for science, safety, financial system and society. Yet ladies, particularly these from the Global South, stay underrepresented in this vital area. To handle this hole, UNESCO, in collaboration with main quantum educators, is launching an open-entry introductory course on quantum computing, paired with a selective coaching and mentorship programme for ladies PhD college students in Africa.

Led by Dr. Maria Longobardi from the University of Basel and Dr. James Wootton from Moth Quantique, this free on-line course gives a step-by-step introduction to the basics of quantum computation. 

Through a collection of lecture movies created by Dr. James Wootton whereas at IBM Quantum, the course explores key ideas corresponding to single and multi-qubit programs, quantum circuits, and foundational algorithms like Shor’s and Grover’s. Based on the open-supply textbook Learn Quantum Computation utilizing Qiskit, the course is open to all and taught in English.

Benefits

  • Participants who full no less than six periods will obtain a certificates, with the highest three college students awarded a devoted coaching OPPORTUNITY.

Eligibility

  • Open to feminine PhD college students from Africa in STEM fields;
  • Must be aware of linear algebra.

Application
