Applications are invited for the World Forum for Democracy 2025 – Youth Delegation. The World Forum for Democracy is a singular platform for political resolution-makers and activists to debate options to key challenges for democracies worldwide. The theme of the 2025 version of the World Forum for Democracy is “Democracy at risk: how can we revive it?”

The 2025 version of the World Forum for Democracy will tackle how the shortage of belief in democratic establishments and processes undermines democratic legitimacy, stability, and resilience to each exterior and inner threats. When residents are not invested in democracy, they might progressively withdraw from voting and different types of civic participation, leaving the elemental freedoms that underpin democratic establishments more and more susceptible.

This vulnerability creates an atmosphere during which populists and autocrats have better latitude to weaken institutional checks and balances, undermine constitutional protections, and prohibit freedoms akin to expression and affiliation.

Benefits

• Travel bills and visa prices can be reimbursed upon presentation of the related receipts, based on the foundations of the Council of Europe. Only the members who attend the complete occasion (pre-Forum preparation and World Forum for Democracy) may be reimbursed. The cost can be made by financial institution switch after the Forum. Prepaid tickets for journey may be organized in case prior request.
• Board and lodging are offered and paid for by the Council of Europe in the course of the dates of the exercise (arrival on 2 November and departure on 8 November 2025). Participants can be accommodated on the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg.

Eligibility

To be chosen and take part within the World Forum for Democracy 2025, the youth candidates should be:

• Between 18 and 30 years of age;
• Able to speak and work in English;
• Actively concerned in youth organisations or different civil society organisations working with younger individuals on points reviving democracy through new artistic options;
• Motivated to share their experiences on democracy and to contribute to creating new concepts on reviving it;
• Available to take part absolutely within the World Forum for Democracy 2025 and within the preparation course of beforehand (i.e. on-line preparation and onsite presence in Strasbourg arriving on 2 November and departing on 8 November).
