Applications are open for the European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Programme 2026. The Blue Book Traineeship programme is a 5-month paid internship provided by the European Commission, offering graduates from all over the world with arms-on expertise in EU policymaking and administration. Trainees work in a multicultural setting, develop skilled abilities, and acquire insights into the operations of EU establishments.

The European Commission proposes two forms of traineeship: an Administrative Traineeship or a Translation Traineeship with the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT). Trainees work all around the European Commission, its companies and companies, principally in Brussels, but additionally in Luxembourg and elsewhere throughout the European Union.

Duties

• Attending and organising conferences, working teams, and public hearings
• Researching, drafting and modifying documentation – together with reviews and consultations
• Answering residents’ inquiries
• Supporting the administration of tasks
• Translating, revising translations or researching terminology

Eligibility

The Blue Book Traineeship programme is open to school graduates who:

• have accomplished an ordinary 3-12 months greater schooling diploma (minimal EQF 6 stage), corresponding to an entire Bachelor’s cycle, or equal. Only when you have a certificates or official affirmation out of your college that you’ve got such a level will you be eligible to apply.

For non-EU nationals, just one procedural language is required at C1 or C2 stage.
  • For the interpretation traineeship within the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) – you will need to be capable to translate into your most important/goal language (usually your mom tongue), from two different official EU languages (‘source languages’).:
    • your most important/goal language have to be one of many official EU languages
    • your first supply language for translation have to be a working language of the EU: English, French or German (C stage or mom tongue)
    • your second supply language might be any of the official EU languages with not less than B2-stage proficiency
