The South and Central Asia-region Professional Fellows Program (SCA PFP) on Economic Empowerment is a singular alternative for mid-career professionals from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka to achieve helpful skilled expertise within the United States. Program Overview:

  • Program Duration: Approximately 6 weeks (May – June 2026)

  • Participating Countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the United States

  • Sponsoring Agency: U.S. Department of State (Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs)

  • Implementing Institution: University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication

  • Application Deadline: September 15, 2025


Program Highlights:
Participants shall be positioned in fellowship positions with companies and organizations in Oklahoma and will take part in a complete skilled growth program. The program consists of:

  • Every week of workshops and coaching on the University of Oklahoma

  • Four weeks of sensible fellowship placement with an Oklahoman enterprise or group

  • A last week in Washington, D.C. that includes embassy visits, cultural excursions, and conferences with enterprise leaders


Key Benefits for Participants:
Participants will:

  • Experience the day-to-day operations of U.S. companies or organizations

  • Attend tutorial and sensible periods on:

    • Entrepreneurship and financial growth

    • Business planning, budgeting, and strategic communication

    • Leadership and administration rules

    • Social media, enterprise/authorities interface, and enterprise ethics

  • Participate in:

    • Weekly suggestions periods with OU college

    • Cultural immersion and neighborhood engagement in Oklahoma

    • Networking alternatives with enterprise stakeholders

    • Alumni and social networking connections

  • Engage with U.S. professionals throughout an outbound program to South Asia (Dec 2026 – Mar 2027)


Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants should:

  • Be residents of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka

  • Be mid-career rising leaders within the authorities, civil society, or non-public sector

  • Have demonstrated experience in financial empowerment and entrepreneurial/small enterprise growth

  • Be proficient in English (spoken and written)

  • Be computer-literate

  • Be between 25 and 40 years outdated


Preferred Candidate Traits:
The choice committee will give choice to candidates who’re:

  • Culturally adaptable and resilient

  • Recognized as rising leaders of their communities

  • Committed to community-impact tasks

Additional Program Requirements:

  • Participants should journey alone (no members of the family or companions allowed)

  • Participants should adjust to all program necessities and scheduled actions

  • Must adhere to the J-1 visa two-year home residency rule after program completion
