The Marianne Initiative for Human Rights Defenders is now accepting purposes for its fifth version (2026). This prestigious French program is designed to empower and defend human rights defenders from around the globe by providing them a novel alternative to strengthen their advocacy, increase their networks, and improve their impression globally.

About the Marianne Initiative

Created to uphold France’s dedication to international human rights, the Marianne Initiative offers a secure and resource-rich area for human rights defenders to regroup, mirror, and develop their impression. Past members have gone on to amplify their efforts in the fields of justice, democracy, gender equality, freedom of speech, and extra.

Why Join the Marianne Initiative?

Launched by the French authorities, the Marianne Initiative goals to assist human rights defenders in their work by:

• Individual lodging close to Paris

• Monthly monetary grant to cowl each day dwelling bills

• A complete coaching and mentorship program

• Personalized assist and connections with key human rights actors in France

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible if:

• You are not a French nationwide, no matter your present place of residence

• You are 18 years or older

• You meet the United Nations’ definition of a human rights defender

• You can present proof of your human rights work (e.g., advice letters, press protection, reviews)

• You have a legitimate passport (or are keen to acquire one)

• You are not topic to authorized journey restrictions

• You can be found to keep in France from February to June 2026

• You can exhibit how this program will improve your work and construct hyperlinks with French human rights organizations
