The Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact Foundation (AIPP) is now accepting expressions of curiosity for a consultancy to conduct an evidence-based analysis study exploring the relationship between customary legal guidelines and gender-based violence (GBV) inside Indigenous communities throughout Asia.

This essential initiative is led by AIPP’s Indigenous Women Programme (IWP) as part of its ongoing dedication to advancing gender justice, Indigenous rights, and culturally grounded authorized advocacy.

Background

Established in 1988, AIPP is a regional group composed of 47 member organizations from 14 international locations. It serves as a collective voice for Indigenous Peoples in Asia, advocating for self-determination, human rights, and inclusive improvement.

Through this consultancy, AIPP seeks to discover how customary legal guidelines affect gender dynamics, together with each their protecting and discriminatory elements in relation to GBV. The aim is to provide insights that mirror the lived realities of Indigenous ladies and women, whereas producing suggestions that align customary practices with worldwide human rights requirements similar to CEDAW and UNDRIP.

Objectives

The major goal of this consultancy is to generate evidence-based findings on the interlinkage between customary legal guidelines and GBV. Specific objectives embrace:

  • Analyzing customary legal guidelines by means of a gender lens, specializing in battle decision, household constructions, and social roles.

  • Assessing how these legal guidelines contribute to or mitigate situations of gender-based violence.

  • Documenting the lived experiences and voices of Indigenous ladies relating to customary authorized techniques.

  • Producing actionable, culturally delicate suggestions for advocacy and coverage reform.

Scope of Work

The advisor(s) shall be accountable for:

  • Conducting a literature evaluate on customary legal guidelines and GBV in Indigenous contexts.

  • Designing the analysis framework and instruments in session with AIPP.

  • Collecting field-based knowledge in collaboration with native Indigenous companions.

  • Engaging Indigenous communities by means of interviews, consultations, and participatory strategies.

Consultant Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in gender-focused analysis, significantly GBV.

  • Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples’ rights, cultures, and customary techniques.

  • Background in intersectional, feminist, or rights-based methodologies.

  • Strong qualitative or mixed-method analysis expertise.

  • Demonstrated expertise working with Indigenous ladies’s networks or communities in Asia.

  • Excellent writing, evaluation, and communication skills.

Reporting & Location

The chosen advisor(s) will report on to AIPP’s Indigenous Women Programme (IWP) and will work remotely with subject journey as wanted. Travel prices and logistics shall be absolutely coated by AIPP in accordance with organizational coverage.

Payment Structure

  • 30% upon acceptance of the inception report

  • 50% upon submission of the draft report

  • 20% upon profitable completion of all deliverables

Timeline

The consultancy will final 90 days from the contract signing date.
