Minister of Justice National Youth Justice Policing Award 2025 ($10,000 in funding) – YOA

Applications are open for the Minister of Justice National Youth Justice Policing Award 2025. Established in 2000, the Minister of Justice National Youth Justice Policing Award is introduced in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Canadian Police Association.

The award acknowledges police-led initiatives that use modern approaches or promising practices that transcend the formal court docket system when coping with youth who come in contact with the felony justice system. The award celebrates modern policing and inventive responses to youth crime.

Award

• The recipient(s) receives a certificates of recognition.
• In addition, $10,000 in funding is introduced in the title of the recipient(s) to the profitable police service or title of a group group in the case of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or different federal entity.
• The Department of Justice Canada additionally covers some of the bills of one consultant from the profitable initiative to journey to the award ceremony.

Eligibility

• Individual or groups of law enforcement officials and others concerned in police-led initiatives that apply Youth Criminal Justice Act ideas in modern and inventive methods when working with youth who come in contact with the regulation, are eligible for this award.
• Consideration will probably be given to initiatives that reply to the wants of, or show sensitivity in the direction of, Indigenous youth, Black youth, or some other susceptible youth in the youth felony justice system.
• Nominations are accepted for initiatives lively or began between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
• Anyone residing in Canada might nominate candidates for the award, together with police providers, group teams, and justice officers. Individual law enforcement officials might nominate themselves or their colleagues.

Application

• Nominations should be accompanied by a signed letter from the Chief of Police, Director or Commanding Officer of the company involved.
• You may embody supporting materials, corresponding to information articles, citations, letters of appreciation, or images together with your nomination type.
