Applications at the moment are open for the 2025 StoryMi Academy Documentary Film Fellowship. The program is searching for 4 passionate, pushed professionals able to develop highly effective tales with the help of business mentors and funding.

The 2025 Documentary Film Fellowship is a 4-month intensive coaching, manufacturing, and mentorship program for Nigerian documentary filmmakers. With knowledgeable steerage, funding, and a structured improvement course of, fellows will produce a 15–20 minute unique brief documentary.

​This program is absolutely funded by the French Embassy in Nigeria and led in partnership with acclaimed Nigerian mentors and worldwide business consultants.

Requirements

The program is searching for skilled filmmakers primarily based in Nigeria who’re:

  • Committed to non-fiction storytelling (no fiction or reenactments)
  • Available full-time from August to November 2025
  • Experienced in filming, enhancing, or producing (you’ll point out your strengths)
  • Passionate about telling pressing, native tales on themes resembling identification, atmosphere, historical past, tradition or social points.

Program Timeline:

  • Program Duration: August – November 2025
  • In-Person Workshop: First week of August and November (Lagos)
  • Ongoing: Virtual mentorship periods, check-ins, and masterclasses.

  • This program will not be open to inexperienced persons or movie college students. It is strictly for professionals.
  • Fiction, dramatizations, and reenactments aren’t accepted.
  • Participation in a world movie competition will not be assured, however primarily based on the standard of your work and dedication
