The National Youth Council (NYC) is the nationwide physique for youth  improvement in Singapore and serves as the focus for worldwide youth affairs. Established by the Singapore Government on 1 November 1989, NYC has performed an important position in shaping insurance policies, programmes, and platforms that empower and encourage younger Singaporeans.


MFA x GYLS Mentorship Programme 2025

As part of the National Youth Council’s SG Youth Plan and the SG60 commemorations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Global Youth Leaders’ Summit (GYLS) are proud to launch the inaugural MFA x GYLS Mentorship Programme 2025.

Programme Overview:

  • Duration: July 2025 – April 2026 (10 months)

  • Format: Group-based mentorship with skilled Foreign Service Officers (FSOs)

  • Target Audience: Youths with an curiosity in overseas affairs, diplomacy, civic training, and world tendencies

  • This range ensures multi-perspective steerage in shaping inclusive and responsive youth insurance policies.

    Programme Objectives:

    This annual initiative goals to:

    • Deepen youth engagement with Singapore’s overseas coverage.

    • Provide a platform for civic studying by mentorship and utilized analysis.

    • Promote knowledgeable civic discourse amongst younger Singaporeans.

    Programme Highlights:

    • Structured Mentorship: Youths shall be grouped by thematic pursuits and mentored by seasoned Foreign Service Officers (FSOs).

    • Research Focus: Topics embrace:

      • Singapore’s relations with the Global South

      • Multilateralism and worldwide regulation

      • Sustainability and frontier diplomacy

    • Duration: 10 months

    • Activities:

      • Stakeholder consultations

      • Access to overseas coverage assets

      • Youth-led publications primarily based on historic and present overseas affairs


What You Will Experience:

    • Engage with senior FSOs and acquire insights into Singapore’s overseas coverage methods

    • Share your views on geopolitical developments, diplomacy, and public engagement

    • Understand why overseas coverage issues to on a regular basis Singaporeans and youths

    • Join themed analysis teams targeted on key subjects similar to:

      • Diplomacy with the Global South

      • Multilateralism and worldwide rule of regulation

      • Technological innovation and digital diplomacy

      • Sustainability and environmental stewardship
