Innovation Fellowships 2025–26 – Route B: Policy-led (Sustainable Futures)


The British Academy Innovation Fellowships scheme helps researchers within the humanities and social sciences to collaborate with UK-based organisations and handle real-world challenges via modern analysis. Funded by the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), the scheme permits data mobilisation, coverage engagement, and abilities growth.

The British Academy is presently inviting functions for its Route B: Policy-led Innovation Fellowships, which is able to run for 12 months, starting between 1–31 March 2026.

Fellowship Details

  • Status: Open for functions

  • Scheme opens: 5 June 2025

  • Application deadline: 6 August 2025, 17:00 BST

  • Start date: Between 1–31 March 2026

  • Duration: 12 months

  • Funding: Up to £120,000 per award (primarily based on 80% Full Economic Costing)

  • Time dedication: 0.4 – 0.8 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

  • Be ordinarily resident within the UK.

  • Hold a long-term tutorial or analysis appointment at a UK-based Higher Education Institution or Independent Research Organisation that extends past the length of the award.

  • Be at an early-career or mid-career stage.

  • Meet all necessities listed within the Scheme Guidance Notes, together with circumstances on safety clearance and nationality.
