Lake Chad Climate Justice Youth Fellowship 2025 – YOA

Lake Chad Climate Justice Youth Fellowship 2025

Deadline: Unspecified

Applications are open for the Lake Chad Climate Justice Youth Fellowship 2025. The Lake Chad Climate Justice Youth Fellowship, carried out by the Development of Educational Action Network (DEAN Initiative) and funded by the Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF) is designed to empower younger grassroots leaders from communities across the Lake Chad Basin to interact in local weather justice advocacy, group mobilization, and native local weather options.

The Lake Chad area faces extreme challenges stemming from local weather change, together with a 90% discount within the lake’s measurement, resulting in desertification, useful resource shortage, and the collapse of conventional livelihoods akin to agriculture and fishing. These environmental impacts have heightened social tensions, fueled insecurity, and displaced communities, leaving girls and women significantly weak.

Youth within the area, although disproportionately affected, are underrepresented in local weather motion as a result of boundaries like restricted sources, insufficient expertise, and lack of entry to advocacy platforms.

  • Access to Funding Opportunities: Seed funding of $1,500 to every fellow to implement local weather justice initiatives on the grassroots degree.

Networking: Connection with a regional and world community of younger local weather justice advocates.
