BNP Paribas Foundation Climate and Biodiversity Initiative 2025: Call for International Scientific Research Teams!
The BNP Paribas Foundation has launched the sixth version of its Climate & Biodiversity Initiative, inviting worldwide scientific analysis groups to apply for funding to study the interactions between local weather change and biodiversity, with a selected focus on ocean and coastal ecosystems.
The Foundation is backed by a Scientific Committee made up of eminent researchers. These famend specialists are recognised by their friends and of their discipline of analysis. Their involvement signifies that they will carry a wealth of expertise to bear on the choice of probably the most promising tasks.
About the Initiative
Since 2010, the BNP Paribas Foundation has been supporting analysis into local weather change and biodiversity by its the Initiative worldwide sponsorship programme. The aim is to enhance our information of the interactions between local weather and biodiversity and the disruption of the local weather system, to evaluate the results for the environment and our societies.
2025 Call for Projects: Focus on Ocean and Coastal Ecosystems
The 2025 name for tasks, open from 21 January to 4 May 2025, goals to fund between 7 and 15 analysis tasks over a three-year interval (2026–2028), with a complete price range of €7 million.
This version is endorsed by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and has been awarded the “Ocean Decade” label, highlighting its alignment with world efforts to preserve and sustainably use ocean and marine sources.

Who Can Apply: International scientific analysis groups affiliated with a analysis establishment within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Research Focus: Projects learning the interactions between local weather change and biodiversity in ocean and coastal ecosystems wherever on this planet.

- Scientific analysis groups from the European Economic Area (EEA).
Selection Process
The choice course of entails a rigorous analysis by a Scientific Committee composed of eminent researchers. The levels embody:
- Application part: a name for tasks is issued to the scientific group all through the European Economic Area (EEA)
- Evaluation and pre-selection part by BNP Paribas workers and exterior consultants
- Drawing up of the tasks shortlist by the Expert Committee
- Final resolution by the BNP Paribas Foundation Executive Committee, which votes on the laureate tasks
