Funding Opportunity: Empowering Sierra Leonean Youth through Digital Technologies – The READY Salone Project
Funding Summary
The READY Salone mission goals to unlock financial alternatives for Sierra Leonean youth and youth-led companies within the digital economic system. This initiative is formally titled “Sierra Leone: Empowering Youth through Digital Technologies”, and is applied by the International Trade Centre (ITC) with help from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and in shut collaboration with:
- Ministry of Youth Affairs (MoYA)
- Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI)
- Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI)
Implementation Period: 2024–2028
Target Group: Sierra Leonean youth aged 15–35, together with younger ladies and individuals with disabilities.
Project Objectives
The READY Salone mission seeks to handle youth unemployment and bridge the digital divide by:
- Equipping youth with abilities and instruments wanted to thrive within the digital economic system.
- Enabling youth-led startups to undertake digital options for progress and competitiveness.
- Enhancing the capabilities of enterprise help organizations, monetary establishments, and tech hubs.
- Supporting the event and strengthening of nationwide digital economic system insurance policies and methods.
Why READY Salone?
Over 77% of Sierra Leone’s inhabitants is below 25 years previous. Despite this demographic benefit, youth face important obstacles in employment and entry to digital assets.
READY Salone responds to this problem by contributing to the ‘Big Five Game Changers’ of Sierra Leone’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (2024–2030) through:
- Empowering youth—particularly ladies—to make use of digital applied sciences for work, schooling, and entrepreneurship.
- Promoting digital adoption by youth-led companies to spice up competitiveness.
- Improving help companies for youth through enterprise and entrepreneurship growth organizations and tech hubs.
- Strengthening nationwide methods and coverage frameworks for a strong digital economic system.
Key Targets
- 10,000 youth (at the very least 30% ladies) knowledgeable about alternatives within the digital economic system.
- 250 younger entrepreneurs and startups supported to develop through digital innovation.
- 8 enterprise help organizations and tech hubs strengthened to serve youth extra successfully.
