The African Critical Inquiry Programme is happy to announce the 2025 Ivan Karp Doctoral Research Awards to assist African doctoral college students within the humanities and humanistic social sciences who’re enrolled at South African universities and conducting dissertation analysis on related subjects. The African Critical Inquiry Programme (ACIP) seeks to advance inquiry and debate concerning the roles and apply of public tradition, public cultural establishments, and public scholarship in shaping identities and society in Africa. The ACIP is dedicated to collaboration between students and the makers of tradition/historical past, and to fostering inquiry into the politics of data manufacturing, the relationships between the colonial/apartheid and the postcolonial/postapartheid, and the significance of important pluralism as in opposition to nationalist discourse. ELIGIBILITY:

• The Ivan Karp Doctoral Research Awards are open to African postgraduate college students (no matter citizenship) within the humanities and humanistic social sciences.
• Applicants should be presently registered in a Ph.D. programme in a South African college and be engaged on subjects associated to ACIP’s focus.
• Awards will assist doctoral analysis tasks targeted on subjects similar to establishments of public tradition, explicit facets of museums and exhibitions, kinds and practices of public scholarship, tradition and communication, and the theories, histories, and methods of thought that form and illuminate public tradition and public scholarship.
