D-Prize Grants: Grants of up to $20,000 to individuals and teams fighting extreme poverty

D-Prize awards startup grants of up to $20,000 to individuals and teams launching new organizations targeted on fighting extreme poverty. These ventures can take the shape of NGOs, charities, or for-profit social enterprises. The solely requirement: a dedication to distributing present, evidence-based options to underserved communities in low- and middle-income nations.

Most D-Prize awardees are first-time entrepreneurs. Many haven’t but launched their organizations or secured funding elsewhere. D-Prize particularly encourages candidates from low- and middle-income nations to apply.

How It Works

Entrepreneurs are invited to deal with one of a number of D-Prize Challenges—every representing a confirmed services or products with the potential for large-scale affect. These embrace areas corresponding to:

• Agriculture
• Livelihoods
• Energy
• Public Services
• Education
• Custom Challenges

Applicants start by designing a pilot undertaking that serves as a launchpad for a scalable enterprise. Selected proposals obtain seed funding and mentorship to convey their imaginative and prescient to life.

Application Process & Timeline

The application course of is very aggressive and structured in a number of rounds:

Round 1:
Applicants submit a two-page idea be aware and résumé(s). D-Prize receives over 3,000 submissions per cycle.

Round 2:
The high 5% of candidates are invited to reply follow-up questions in written type.

Final Round:
Top candidates take part in cellphone and e mail interviews. Approximately 1% of all candidates are awarded up to $20,000 to launch their group.

Award & Launch:
Winners spend the next months piloting their concepts and laying the inspiration for organizations that intention to develop at scale.

Key Dates for the 2025 Global Competition

• Launch Date: April 7, 2025
• Early Deadline: May 18, 2025
• Regular Deadline: June 8, 2025
• Extension Deadline: June 29, 2025

(Deadlines shut at midnight PT. Applicants can register to obtain an extension.)

Eligibility Criteria

D-Prize is designed for brand new ventures. Existing organizations are eligible provided that their main focus is distributing a confirmed, evidence-based poverty resolution. Generally, D-Prize doesn’t help organizations older than 18 months or those who have raised greater than $30,000 in outdoors funding.
