Request for Proposals: Play Learn Thrive

Grand Challenges Canada, with help from The LEGO Foundation, is launching the Play Learn Thrive initiative to handle gaps in Early Childhood Development in Emergencies (ECDiE) and Education in Emergencies (EiE).

This initiative goals to determine robust help methods for kids (delivery to 12 years) in disaster settings, specializing in their holistic improvement and the wellbeing of their caregivers, educators, and communities.

Eligible Project Countries:

• Jordan
• Lebanon
• Kenya
• Uganda

Eligibility Requirements:

• Legally included not-for-profit organizations
• Active presence in at least one of many 4 precedence nations
• Legally registered to function in at least one precedence nation
• Implement packages immediately in precedence nations

Available Funding:

Proof of Concept (POC)

• Up to $250,000 CAD over 24 months
• Supports early-stage improvements
• Application deadline: April 24, 2025, at 2 pm ET

Transition to Scale (TTS)

• Between $300,000 – $1,500,000 CAD over 24 months
• Supports mature improvements prepared for broader implementation
• Rolling purposes accepted between January 21 – November 27, 2025
• First application deadline: April 24, 2025, at 2 pm ET

Application Process:

• Applications have to be submitted through Grand Challenges Canada’s Fluxx Portal
• TTS grants require a two-stage application course of:
  • Stage One: Screening questionnaire and challenge abstract
  • Stage Two: Full challenge application upon profitable screening

Approximately 9 POC and seven TTS tasks will probably be funded.
