Caribou Digital Pan-African PhD Scholars Collective on AI and Digital Economy for African women PhD researchers

The Mastercard Foundation Learning Partnership in collaboration with Caribou Digital, invites functions for the Pan-African PhD Scholars Collective. This initiative will construct a dynamic collective of African women PhD researchers exploring AI’s position in shaping financial Opportunities, youth employment, and digital transformation in Africa.
Requirements
Caribou Digital is wanting for 7 distinctive women students who:
- Are African nationals or everlasting residents enrolled in an English-speaking PhD program at an African college.
- Are under the age of 40.
- Have analysis pursuits in AI & digital economies, equivalent to youth employment, and innovation in an AI age.
- Are keen about shaping insurance policies and discussions on AI in Africa.
Research Focus
- AI & Youth Employment: How does AI change the school-to-work transition in Africa?
- AI & Women’s Economic Empowerment: How can AI drive inclusive Opportunities for women on the African continent?
- AI & Intersectionality: How may AI and youth livelihoods influence on these residing with disabilities, or in non-urban areas? How may they contribute to constructing related AI?
- AI & The Future of Work: What will working in Africa appear like in 2030 in an AI-driven age?
- AI & Digital Entrepreneurship: How can AI assist younger African entrepreneurs and MSMEs?
- AI & Education: How is AI reworking expertise growth for youth, women, and underserved teams?
Benefits
This program is designed to elevate the voices of African women PhD students in AI and the digital financial system, offering:
- funding & Research Support – Scholars will obtain a stipend of $5,000 for their participation. Additionally, as much as $2,000 in funding is out there to assist journey, analysis, and modifying in 2025-2026. Access to those funds requires a separate application and approval course of after students have been selecte
- Mentorship & Career Development – Peer-to-peer studying in a month-to-month group and one-on-one month-to-month mentorship from Gender & AI educational.
- Networking & Exposure – Support to current at worldwide conferences and collaborate with high researchers on the continent and past.
- Publication & Recognition – Guidance to publish analysis in high educational journals in addition to non-academic audiences, together with an edited quantity in 2026
- Leadership Opportunities – Become a thought chief in AI, digital coverage, and innovation in Africa.
Program Details
The cohort of 7 researchers shall be chosen by April 2025.
- Research & Mentorship: Monthly mentorship periods, peer-to-peer studying, and publication assist.
- Publishing & Conferences: Selected researchers will publish their findings and current at international conferences. We may even assist you in publishing an edited quantity on AI and inclusive digital economies in 2026.
- Growing the Network: We will configure methods to remain in contact past 2026.
