Emergent Fund: Rapid Response Grants Supporting Grassroots Organizing in the U.S.
Are you part of a motion or frontline group responding to pressing and surprising challenges? Do you want fast funding to grab a crucial second for motion? The Emergent Fund offers rolling, month-to-month grants to assist grassroots organizations mobilizing for social and financial justice in quickly altering circumstances.
Grant Application Details

Deadline: The third Thursday of every month at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
Note: The grant cycle pauses in December and August. - Application Platform: Submit proposals by way of JustFund.
- Processing Time: Registration on SimplyFund requires 48 enterprise hours for approval. Applicants ought to register as early as attainable.

Eligibility Criteria
Organizations should meet the following standards to apply:
- Hold 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) tax standing or have a fiscal sponsor.
- Engage in grassroots organizing that addresses time-sensitive challenges and builds group energy.
- Operate inside the United States or U.S. territories.
- Focus on systemic change, movement-building, and advocacy.
Ineligible Applications:
- Annual or repeated funding requests for basic working assist.
- Government companies, universities, or non secular establishments.
- Charity, direct service applications, or worldwide tasks.
- For-profit companies, startups, or capital-raising campaigns.
- Individuals (activists, consultants) or tasks that lack a transparent energy evaluation.
Funding Priorities

- Dismantle oppressive programs and advance collective liberation.
We prioritize time-sensitive, community-led, and intersectional organizing efforts with robust motion relationships and restricted entry to conventional funding. Most grantees function with budgets underneath $100,000 and could also be new to philanthropy.
Advisory Council Considerations
When reviewing functions, the Advisory Council assesses:
- Emergent & Trusted Organizing – New, impactful options responding to pressing wants.
- Time-Sensitivity – Immediate motion required on account of a disaster or alternative.
- Visionary Power-Building – Structural transformation rooted in justice and management improvement.
- Directly-Impacted Leadership – Led by and for the communities they serve.
- Intersectional Analysis – Multi-racial and cross-identity alliance constructing.
- Trusted Movement Relationships – Recommendations from motion leaders and grantees.
- Access to Resources – Preference for grassroots organizations with restricted funding alternatives.
