Danubius Young Scientist Award 2025 (€1,350 prize)

Applications are open for the Danubius Young Scientist Award 2025. The Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) yearly grant 14 younger scientists with the Danubius Young Scientist Award (one for every nation that’s part of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Ukraine).

Introduced in 2014, the Award seeks to spotlight the scientific work and expertise of younger researchers and improve the visibility of the scientific group within the area. Moreover, the award encourages younger scientists to have interaction within the scientific examination of the multifaceted points and questions particularly associated to the Danube Region.

Award

  • Each winner will obtain a prize of 1,350 Euro.
  • An award ceremony will happen on 13 November 2025 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the small print of which shall be introduced sooner or later. Moreover, due to the continuing form assist by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), it’s envisaged that the winners can have the OPPORTUNITY to go to one in every of their services in Ispra, Italy, in 2026.

Eligibility

  • Open to all scientific disciplines.
  • There is not any formal age restrict BUT the candidate should have obtained their highest tutorial diploma (Master/PhD) throughout the final 5 years (after 1 January 2020). Submissions of candidates holding solely a bachelor’s diploma won’t be accepted.
  • The candidate can’t nominate himself/herself. He or she have to be nominated by their internet hosting scientific establishment (college, academy of sciences, analysis group, and many others.).
  • The internet hosting scientific establishment can nominate as much as a most of 5 candidates in whole. However, the 5 candidates should come from completely different schools or departments, institutes or analysis teams throughout the group. If greater than 5 purposes are submitted, these from the rectorate or administration of the group shall be given choice, as will probably be assumed that they’ve gone via an inner coordination course of.

Application

Submit all paperwork in English (exception: diploma certificates) and as three PDF information:

  • Letter of advice from the establishment (max. 1 web page)
  • One single doc concerning the candidate containing the next data:
    • Summary of the scientific work (e.g. thesis, dissertation, journal article, scientific publication, and many others.) and its particular relevance for the Danube Region
    • Curriculum vitae together with publication checklist of the candidate (CV and publication checklist max. 3 pages)
  • Certificate of the candidate’s highest tutorial diploma
