Applications are open for the Nelson Mandela – Graça Machel Innovation Awards 2024-2025. The Nelson Mandela Graça Machel Innovation Awards will acknowledge 5 progressive concepts and initiatives from people, organizations, networks, or neighborhood teams with seed funding of US$7,500.

Under the core theme “Uplifting Humanity,” they’re looking for improvements that problem the established order and bridge divides. Whether you’re pursuing Tech for Good, exploring the intersection of Climate and Social Justice, engaged on Bridging Citizens and Government, or demonstrating Community Resilience, they need to hear about it!

The Award was established in 2004 by CIVICUS, a world alliance of civil society organisations. Since their inception, the awards have offered seed funding, communication alternatives, and networking help to assist amplify the influence of grassroots initiatives. The awards underscore the significance of justice, freedom and collective motion in effecting constructive change.

Categories

The 5 awards will probably be offered below the next classes: 

• Individual Award – Recognises the achievements of a single one that has demonstrated progressive considering and made a major influence by means of artistic interventions of their neighborhood.  
• Organisation Award – Recognises a company that has reworked their methods of working and made a constructive influence by means of their collective efforts. The award acknowledges the group’s dedication to creativity, collaboration, and the change they’ve introduced to their neighborhood or the sector. 
• Youth Award – Recognises the excellent achievements of younger innovators who’ve demonstrated inspiring creativity and made a difference with their interventions.  
• Brave Philanthropy Award – Recognises these people and organisations that promote simply and equitable monetary partnerships and have exhibited braveness and innovation of their philanthropic endeavours.  
• Community Award – Recognises people, teams, or organizations whose efforts have led to betterment of their neighborhood. The award acknowledges their dedication to addressing native challenges, fostering collaboration, bridging divides, and fostering development by means of their efforts. 

Prizes

One winner from every class will probably be chosen. Each successful initiative will obtain:

• A US$7,500 award to additional your wonderful work!
• Two absolutely-funded journeys to an Innovation Convening in late May 2025 and to International Civil Society Week 1 – 5 November 2025, in Bangkok.
• Join CIVICUS’ Innovation Community!

Eligibility

• Your innovation is a product, service or course of that creates worth and has the potential to make a difference for the higher in your neighborhood;
• Your innovation, whether or not a product, service, or course of, protects or expands civic area by selling and defending freedom of peaceable meeting, freedom of affiliation, or freedom of expression;
• Your innovation helps construct neighborhood and/or promotes social justice;
• You are over the age of 18 on the time of making use of;
• Available and excited for two journeys to promote Innovation;
• You can apply in English, Arabic, French or Spanish.
