Applications are open for the GIJN Global Shining Light Award 2025. Every two years, the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) presents the Global Shining Light Award, a distinctive award which honors investigative journalism in a growing or transitioning nation, finished beneath risk, duress, or within the direst of situations.

Categories
There are two award classes:
- Small and Medium Outlets (organizations with workers of 20 or much less, together with freelancers)

Award
- Top winners will obtain an honorary plaque, US$2,500, and a trip to the 2025 Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to settle for the award in entrance of a whole bunch of their colleagues from world wide.
Eligibility
The journalist, journalism group, or media outlet could have produced unbiased, investigative reporting, which:
- Originated in and affected a Global South nation;
- Was broadcast or printed between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024;
- Was of an investigative nature;
- Uncovered a problem, wrongdoing, or system of corruption which gravely affected the widespread good;
- And did so within the face of arrest, imprisonment, violence towards them and their households, or threats and intimidation.

The submission deadline is February 28, 2025. Late submissions is not going to be accepted.
