CSW Black Feminism Initiative Graduate Fellowships 2025 – YOA

Applications are open for the CSW Black Feminism Initiative Graduate Fellowships 2025. The CSW|Streisand Center Black Feminism Initiative (BFI) has established two fellowships to assist mental work that facilities Black feminist frameworks of research.

The Alisa Bierria Graduate Fellowship in Black Feminist Research honors and continues the work of Alisa Bierria, whose writing explores race, intentionality, intimate organizing, anti-Black racism, carceral tradition, gendered violence, and anti-carceral approaches to justice. The Mariame Kaba Graduate Fellowship in Black Feminist Research honors and continues the work of Mariame Kaba, whose writing examines policing, abolition, gendered state violence, youth activism, organizing and management, interpersonal violence, and anti-carceral approaches to justice.

Funding

• Alisa Bierria Graduate Fellowship: $2,000
• Mariame Kaba Graduate Fellowship: $2,000

Eligibility

• Applicant have to be a at present registered PhD or Master’s pupil at UCLA throughout the quarters when the application is due and when award fee is made.
• Fellowship can be utilized for analysis journey, convention displays, or the acquisition of supplies crucial for a sophisticated analysis venture corresponding to a thesis or dissertation.
• Scholarly analysis that features a creative or organizing dimension can also be inspired.
• Awardee can be honored on the CSW|Streisand Center Awards Celebration at UCLA on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Attendance is very inspired.

The application requires the next paperwork:

• Curriculum Vitae
• List of three references that features names, affiliations, and electronic mail addresses
• A Statement* (most 3-4 single-spaced pages) that features:
  • an outline of your tutorial background (coursework, diploma focus, previous artistic, activist, or analysis tasks)
  • an outline of your analysis venture that explains the work’s strategies, arguments and/or guiding questions, and conveys how the venture engages with and advances Black feminist thought/politics
  • a bibliography of 5-10 key texts that form the venture
  • a short, one paragraph price range that itemizes anticipated venture expenditures
