Call for Proposals: UBC Centre for Migration Studies Research Conference 2025 – YOA

The UBC Centre for Migration Studies, in collaboration with University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan, invites proposals for the 2025 CMS Research Conference, happening May 1-2, 2025, on the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. This 12 months’s theme is “Migration, Mobilities, and Changing Political Landscapes.”

This third annual convention on new analysis in migration research welcomes presentation proposals from CMS associates which are school, postdoctoral fellows, or present graduate college students within the Lower Mainland or at UBC Okanagan. Only tutorial associates are eligible. The convention embodies the shared targets of fostering change amongst migration students, constructing a community throughout disciplines and profession ranges, and deepening relationships between the 2 UBC campuses. Along with panel displays, the convention will function a keynote documentary screening with filmmaker dialogue, and a roundtable occasion associated to scholarly skilled improvement.

Benefits

• Successful candidates from UBCO will obtain $500 for journey help from the UBCO Provost’s Office, and also will be offered 2 nights of on-campus lodging on the convention.

Eligibility

Applicants should: 

• Currently be employed by or enrolled at UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan as a school member, postdoctoral fellow, or graduate scholar.
• Be an affiliate of CMS.
• Submit a brief summary (300 phrases most) of the analysis you want to current, which should clearly relate to migration, mobilities, and/or belonging.

Selection Criteria

• Proposals will likely be chosen primarily based on the standard of the submitted summary, its relevance to the convention theme, and complementarity with different submissions. Submissions will likely be adjudicated by the content material co-leads for the convention (a CMS Co-Director and a UBCO school member). Successful candidates will likely be invited to submit a developed paper (due by April 7, 2025) and current in-individual on the convention May 1-2, 2024.
