Advancing Gender Equality in Africa: Join the IGVI African Gender Equality Research Group


The Institute of Global Value Inquiry (IGVI) is inviting purposes from students specializing in African feminist philosophies to affix the African Gender Equality Research Group. This initiative goals to convey collectively researchers throughout Africa to critically interact with African philosophies, values, and norms in the context of world values.

About the African Gender Equality Research Group

This analysis group seeks to discover African philosophies, gender equality discourses, girls’s empowerment, decoloniality, and Indigenous data. The aim is to handle socio-cultural, political, and financial limitations to gender equality whereas fostering data alternate between Africa and different areas. Selected students will actively contribute to IGVI’s annual convention and the Journal of Global Value Inquiry.

Benefits of Joining the Research Group

Selected students can be appointed for a four-year time period and can obtain a month-to-month stipend of €800. The group will set up two conferences per 12 months, offering members with platforms to share analysis findings and contribute to the international discourse on gender equality.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be based mostly in Africa and employed by or affiliated with an African college.
  • Hold a PhD in philosophy or a associated humanities self-discipline.
  • Specialize in gender equality analysis, decoloniality, feminist philosophies, epistemologies, and methodologies.
  • Female feminist students from anglophone West Africa are strongly inspired to apply.

Application Requirements

Interested candidates ought to submit the following paperwork by 28 February 2025:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) (max. six pages)
  2. List of Publications
  3. Three to 5 analysis articles (max. 5 article-length works or two book-length works)
  4. Summary of experience in gender equality (max. six pages)
  5. Research proposal define (max. two pages)

The African Gender Equality Research Group will concentrate on the following thematic areas:

A. Philosophical and Theoretical Issues

  • African Indigenous philosophies and ethics on gender norms and values
  • African Indigenous data techniques and international values
  • The function of Indigenous data in selling gender equality

B. Feminist Philosophies, Epistemologies, and Methodologies

  • Epistemic freedoms, injustices, and values in African feminist research
  • Decolonial African feminist epistemologies
  • Feminist analysis inside African philosophies
