AIR Writing and Mentorship Program by AIR Collective: Free Academic Writing and Mentorship Opportunity for Underrepresented South Asian Researchers


The Action to Improve Representation (AIR) Collective has launched the Writing and Mentorship Program, a novel alternative designed to help early-career researchers from underrepresented teams in South Asia. This free, year-long initiative goals to bridge gaps in entry to high-quality educational coaching by enhancing members’ writing abilities and offering knowledgeable mentorship. Through structured workshops and one-on-one steerage, researchers will obtain the help wanted to refine their work and navigate the educational publishing course of. The program consists of two important elements:

1. Skill Development

Participants will interact in structured workshops to enhance their educational writing and publishing abilities. The program contains:

  • Introductory Workshop – Overview of challenges and alternatives in educational publishing.
  • Development Workshops on:
    • Crafting analysis questions
    • Outlining analysis papers
    • Writing introductions and theoretical backgrounds
    • Developing hypotheses
    • Presenting strategies and findings
    • Articulating theoretical contributions
    • Managing the publication course of
  • Peer-to-Peer Support Sessions – Facilitating casual discussions and collaborative studying.
  • Final Presentation Workshop – Participants current their ultimate analysis papers.

2. Mentorship

  • Researchers with absolutely developed drafts shall be paired with skilled teachers for common suggestions.
  • Mentorship includes on-line conferences to assist refine manuscripts.
  • Note: This mentorship doesn’t suggest co-authorship. Any co-author relationships are impartial of AIR.

Eligibility & Evaluation Criteria

Who can apply?

  • Early-career researchers from South Asia:
    • In their ultimate or penultimate 12 months of Ph.D.
    • Or inside 5 years post-Ph.D.
  • Must belong to underrepresented teams (see FAQ part).
  • Preference is given to:
    • Women
    • First-generation graduates

Selection Criteria:

  • Commitment to analysis
  • Quality of the proposed thought
  • Preparedness for this system (e.g., prior analysis expertise, writing abilities, methodological coaching)
  • Encouragement for all eligible students to apply, no matter preparedness degree.

Application Process

  • Applications Due:     February 28, 2025

  • Results Announced:  March 14, 2025

  • Program Duration:   April, 2025 to January, 2026
