University of Toronto School of Cities Story & Image Competition 2025 – YOA

Applications are open for the University of Toronto School of Cities Story & Image Competition 2025. The School of Cities, together with the departments of English on the University of Toronto Mississauga and University of Toronto St. George, is internet hosting a brief story & picture competitors impressed by the School of Cities’ annual themes. Submissions are welcome from full-time undergraduate and graduate college students at U of T from any self-discipline, division, or campus.

The competitors is split into two classes: undergraduate and graduate. These might be evaluated individually, and three finalists might be chosen from every group:

• Undergraduate competitors: one winner and two honorable mentions
• Graduate competitors: one winner and two honorable mentions

The submitted story and visible artwork element ought to substantively interact with a facet of city expertise associated to 1 of the School of Cities’ annual themes (local weather and justice; migration, belonging, and thriving in cities; or inequality, information, and democracy). They welcome submissions about any metropolis, wherever on the planet!

Prizes

• The winner in every class will obtain a prize of $500. The honorable mentions will obtain $250 every.

Eligibility

• This contest is open to all full-time college students on the University of Toronto, each undergraduate and graduate.
• Entries should be authentic, unpublished works of fiction and visible artwork. No generative AI instruments have created elements of or the entire story or picture.
• Short tales must be as much as 1,250 phrases most (Times New Roman, font 12, double-spaced, with 1” margins). They encourage writers to abide by these limits. The judges reserve the fitting to disqualify tales that don’t meet these tips. They are on the lookout for literary quick fiction for which the visible paintings constitutes an integral extra part. Do not submit chapters from novels, work for kids, non-fiction articles or memoirs, screenplays, poems, and many others.

Submit your quick story as a PDF file and your picture as a JPEG file within the submission type. Entries should be acquired by 11:59pm on Monday March 3, 2025.
