Nominations are open for the United Nations Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Prize 2025. Once each 5 years, commencing in 2015, an honorary award might be introduced as a tribute to the excellent achievements and contributions of two laureates: one feminine and one male who shall not be chosen from the identical geographic area.
The intention of the United Nations Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Prize, established by the General Assembly in its decision 68/275 of 6 June 2014, is to acknowledge the achievements of those that dedicate their lives to the service of humanity, by selling the needs and ideas of the United Nations whereas honouring and paying homage to Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela’s extraordinary life and legacy of reconciliation, political transition and social transformation.
Prizes
- In recognition of the humility of Nelson Mandela, the Prize awarded to every winner is a plaque engraved with an applicable quotation and a related citation. The Committee for the Prize, in session with the UN Secretary-General, decide the citation.
Eligibility
- The Prize goals to acknowledge the achievements of those that devoted their lives to the service of humanity as guided by the needs and ideas of the UN, whereas honouring and paying homage to Mandela’s extraordinary life and legacy of reconciliation, political transition and social transformation.
- The Prize shall be awarded to acknowledge this service to humanity within the promotion of reconciliation and social cohesion, and in group growth.
- No present employees member of any group of the United Nations system shall be eligible for the Prize.
Nomination
This on-line nomination type have to be submitted no later than 28 February 2025, in English or French solely.
