2025 Perry World House-Foreign Affairs Emerging Scholars Policy Prize
The University of Pennsylvania’s Perry World House and Foreign Affairs, the main publication on international coverage and overseas affairs, are excited to announce the 2025 Perry World House-Foreign Affairs Emerging Scholars Policy Prize. This prestigious award acknowledges progressive tutorial work that bridges the hole between analysis and policymaking.
About the Prize
This $5,000 prize is awarded to rising students whose essays:
- Draw on unique tutorial analysis.
- Address important international challenges.
- Aim to affect coverage debates in areas resembling local weather change, democracy, international justice, human rights, and safety.
Winning essays shall be revealed by Foreign Affairs (on-line or in print), offering recipients with a platform to share their insights with policymakers and international audiences.
Eligibility
The prize is open to rising students worldwide, together with:
- Junior college, postdocs, and superior Ph.D. candidates.
- Scholars who accomplished their terminal diploma in 2017 or later (e.g., J.D., MA, MS, MPH).
- Co-authored submissions are accepted, offered all authors meet eligibility necessities.
Tenured college are ineligible.
Submission Requirements
Applicants should submit the next in English:
- Prize Essay: Approximately 3,000 phrases, written for a policymaker viewers, and based mostly on the applicant’s tutorial analysis.
- Underlying Academic Scholarship: The tutorial work that informs the essay (e.g., a printed article, chapter, or unpublished manuscript).

Evaluation Criteria
Submissions shall be judged on:
- Policy relevance and affect.
- Writing high quality and accessibility.
- Importance of the coverage problem addressed.
- Feasibility of coverage suggestions.
- Academic rigor of the underlying analysis.

- Deadline: May 21, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET.
- Winners shall be notified after a radical assessment by a panel of judges.
