About the Amber Grant
WomensNet founded the “Amber Grant” in 1998. The grant was set up with one goal in mind: to honor the memory of a very special young woman, Amber Wigdahl, who died at just 19 years old — before realizing her business dreams.
Today, WomensNet carries on that tradition, proudly giving away at least $30,000 every month in Amber Grant money. In recognition of the diversity of businesses owned by women, we’ve also expanded our grant-giving to include “Startup Grants,” “Business Category Grants,” as well as three “$25,000 Year End Grants.”
How Do I Apply For an Amber Grant?
Applying is simple. Just take a few minutes to tell us about yourself and your business dream. No long, complicated forms to fill out. Submitting one application makes you instantly eligible for all grants related to your business. We announce the grant winners by the 23rd of the following month.
2025 WomensNet’s Full list of Grants
WomensNet funds several women business grants throughout the year — $435,000 worth! And these Grants Include:
1. Monthly Amber Grant
$10,000 winner each month
- Each month, our judges review all the applications — then select 10 finalists. One of those finalists will be the monthly $10,000 Amber Grant grant winner. All business categories, including non-profits, are eligible for the Amber Grant each month.
- The $10,000 Amber Grant winner each month qualifies for the year-end grant of $25,000.
2. Monthly Startup Grant
$10,000 winner each month
- Are you in the “idea phase” of your business? We have an additional grant opportunity for you: Our WomensNet Startup Grant. We define a “startup” as a business in the “idea phase,” or one that has only had minimal sales (less than $10,000). Even though startups are eligible for our monthly Amber Grants, we’ve created an additional grant especially for this underserved sector. The $10,000 Amber Grant winner each month qualifies for the year-end grant of $25,000.
3. Business Category Grants
$10,000 winner each month
- Every woman entrepreneur who fills out her application is eligible for the $10,000 Amber Grant (for the month in which the application is submitted). But we have an additional $10,000 Business Category grant winner every month, too.
You see, we’ve found that some business categories are under-represented in winning grant money.
- So applicants who fall under these specific business categories automatically become eligible (once per year) for the monthly $10,000 Business Category Grant based on the calendar below. Your same application remains active for the Category grant until the month of your category. One of the 12 category winners are selected for a $25,000 year end grant.

In 1998, WomensNet founded the Amber Grant. One of the very first online organizations to give women-owned business grants, the Amber Grant was set up to honor the memory of Amber Wigdahl. She was a special young woman who died at just 19 years old, before realizing her business dreams.
We’ve carried on that tradition by giving away three $10,000 Amber Grants every month to three woman entrepreneurs… And by giving away three additional annual $25,000 Amber Grants to a trio of the preceding 36 monthly Amber Grant winners.
