SDG Youth Leadership Certificate by University of Calgary: Free Online SDG Leadership Program for Canadian Students
The University of Calgary is worked up to announce the 2025 Youth Leadership Certificate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), modeled on the University of Waterloo’s profitable program. This free, totally on-line program equips Canadian post-secondary college students with the abilities and information to guide impactful SDG initiatives of their communities.
Program Overview
- Duration: February–April 2025
- Format: Online SDG course (by way of SDG Academy) + Biweekly workshops
- Eligibility: Students enrolled in Canadian post-secondary establishments
- Capacity: 150 individuals
Key Features

SDG Knowledge Building
Participants choose a self-paced SDG Academy course centered on a particular SDG or sustainability subject. Discussions and reflections throughout periods improve understanding and progress. -
Skill-Building Workshops
Six biweekly Saturday workshops (1 p.m. ET) function visitor audio system and interactive periods, offering instruments and techniques for SDG management. -
Action for Impact
The program encourages individuals to prepare group conferences and develop advocacy tasks, fostering important pondering and real-world functions of their studying.
Completion Requirements
To earn a certificates signed by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, individuals should:
- Complete their chosen SDG Academy course by April 30, 2025.
- Attend a minimum of 4 out of 6 skill-building workshops.
Participants will even acquire entry to over 2,000 SDG Academy programs, with the choice to pay for a further certificates of completion if desired.
Workshop Schedule:
The workshops shall be held on Saturdays from February to April 2025, beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Full program schedule is coming quickly.

- Youth Entrepreneurship and the SDGs
- Introduction to Systems Thinking
- Developing Collaboration and Partnerships for the SDGs
- Funding Action: Grant Writing Basics
- Tools for Changing Behaviour: Community-Based Social Marketing
Expected Time Commitment
- Workshops: 1–2 hours per session
- SDG Academy Course: 2–4 hours per week
