LCC-CBA Journalism Fellowship 2025 (up to $40,000CAD)

Applications for the LCC-CBA Journalism Fellowship 2025 are actually open. The Law Commission of Canada (LCC) and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) are happy to announce the inaugural LCC-CBA Journalism Fellowship, a novel OPPORTUNITY for journalists to discover and report on urgent Canadian legislation and justice points. The fellowship helps the creation of in-depth reporting tasks in print or on-line media that target how the legislation impacts individuals’s lives, with a view to elevating public understanding of Canada’s justice system and the position and way forward for our legal guidelines and authorized establishments.

The LCC and CBA have deep commitments to public authorized schooling, legislation reform and thought management on rising legislation and justice points. Recognizing the important position investigative journalism performs in informing public discourse, this fellowship seeks to promote higher public consciousness of how the authorized system works, shapes and displays Canadian society.

Fellowship

  • The fellowship is valued at $40,000CAD.

Eligibility

  • Open to journalists with a minimal of 5 years full-time work expertise;
  • Be primarily based in Canada and
  • Who are dedicated to increasing their information of the justice system and producing complete reviews on authorized points.

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Samples of labor
  • Two reference letters
  • A venture proposal (max 750 phrases) that identifies:
    • How the venture addresses beneath-reported points and enhances public authorized consciousness
    • The significance of the problems to Canadians and their potential public impression
    • How the venture can inform systemic responses to legislation and justice challenges
    • Key info sources for the venture
    • An outline of accompanying multimedia elements (pictures, movies, podcast, and so on.)
    • A publication and content material distribution plan for the venture (e.g. print publications, digital publications, web sites, Substack, blogs, and so on.)
