Application Open: Leadership Program on Climate Governance and Diplomacy (Cohort XVIII)
The African Group of Negotiators Expert Support (AGNES) invites functions for the Climate Governance, Diplomacy, and Negotiations Leadership Program (Cohort XVIII). This program is designed to empower African local weather leaders with the data and expertise essential to successfully have interaction in worldwide local weather change coverage and foster impactful local weather actions.
🔎 Introduction
Climate change stays one of many biggest threats to sustainable improvement, disproportionately affecting the poorest and most susceptible populations, notably in Africa.
Despite its vital local weather vulnerabilities, Africa faces challenges in successfully collaborating in worldwide local weather change coverage discussions. The complexity of local weather diplomacy and negotiations typically requires years of expertise to navigate successfully.
To handle this problem, AGNES developed this management coaching program to construct the capability of African local weather negotiators, policymakers, and different stakeholders to drive significant local weather motion.
🎯 Program Objectives and Outcomes
The program goals to:
- Develop expert African local weather leaders able to partaking in worldwide local weather coverage discourse.
- Strengthen negotiation expertise to reinforce Africa’s presence and affect in world local weather change discussions.
- Support the implementation of local weather actions at regional and nationwide ranges.
Participants will acquire:
- Advanced data of local weather science, governance, and negotiations.
- Practical expertise in local weather finance, justice, and litigation.
- Insights into implementing climate-resilient improvement methods.

This program is open to:
- Policymakers and decision-makers concerned in local weather science and nationwide/sub-national local weather insurance policies.
- Climate scientists and lecturers.
- Climate change negotiators and diplomats.
- Representatives from NGOs, worldwide organizations, and the non-public sector working in local weather and environmental fields.
- Legal professionals engaged in local weather and environmental governance.

- Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
- Climate Justice and Litigation
- Long-term Low Emission Climate Resilient Development & Decision Support Tools
- Climate Finance
- Technology Development and Transfer; Gender and Climate Change
- Climate Security
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)
⏳ Application Deadline
The deadline for functions is 4th January 2025.
