Applications are open for the Changing Narratives Fund 2024. The Changing Narratives Fund is a brand new fund initiated by the Department of Canadian Heritage to assist creators from Diverse Communities, together with Indigenous, Black, racialized, ethno-religious minorities, Persons with disabilities/Disabled individuals and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
It goals to:
- Fund skilled growth, coaching and mentorships initiatives that can assist enhance the variety of certified and expert various creators within the trade.
- Support organizations to develop and ship revolutionary, high-impact actions that construct capability and keep resilience throughout the Canadian audiovisual (AV) sector.
- Ensure various tales and views are authentically represented in Canada’s AV sector.
- Foster new financial alternatives and promote higher fairness throughout the AV sector.
- Encourage all Canadians to recognize the wealthy range of the inhabitants by way of audiovisual productions that precisely replicate various voices and experiences.
- The contribution can be up to $300,000 for initiatives with a nationwide, provincial/territorial, or regional attain and affect.
Eligibility
Applicants to the Changing Narratives Fund initiatives have to be:
- in assist of strengthening Diverse Community teams within the Canadian screen-based industries;
- Canadian owned and managed non-profit firms with a main mandate within the Canadian display primarily based sector;
- Organizations integrated on the time of software;
- In good standing (i.e., not in Default) with the CMF per reviews and deliverables of previous funded initiatives.
Evaluation Criteria
- Need/Rationale: Has the Applicant clearly recognized the difficulty/want for the venture?
- Proposed Solution: Is the proposed exercise applicable and efficient? Are the proposed facilitators/leaders/consultants/markets applicable or efficient?
- Feasibility: Can this Applicant feasibly undertake this initiative with the time and sources proposed? Does this Applicant have related expertise to ship all the weather of their proposal?
- Third-Party Support: Is there third-party assist? Is this assist confirmed?
- Inclusion and Accessibility: Does the Applicant have an accessible and significant strategy to inclusion within the initiative? (Support providers, illustration, choice processes, and so forth.)
- Positioning: Has the Applicant addressed their relationship to the proposed individuals and concerned communities, all through venture supply?
- Impact: How does this Project amplify various voices and/or foster an inclusive, equitable and consultant audiovisual sector?
