The International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion in Europe (IMISCOE) Network invitations nominations for the celebrated Maria Ioannis Baganha Dissertation Award 2025. Established in honor of Maria Ioannis Baganha, a founding scholar of IMISCOE, this award has acknowledged excellent PhD analysis in migration research since 2010.
Eligibility
The award is open to PhD recipients whose official thesis protection occurred between October 7, 2022, and October 7, 2024. Eligible dissertations can come from any self-discipline and methodological strategy, together with monographs and article-based theses. Applicants from IMISCOE Member Institutes and non-members are welcome to apply, offered they meet the factors.
Key Requirements:
- Dissertation summaries should exhibit important contributions to migration analysis in analysis high quality, originality, theoretical, and methodological/empirical contributions.
- Article-based theses should embrace at the least one substantive single-authored article and an in depth account of contributions to co-authored work.
Application Guidelines
Submit the next by December 2, 2024 (23:59 CET) through e-mail to information@imiscoe.org
- Completed software kind (available here).
- Dissertation abstract (max. 2,000 phrases) with as much as 5 key phrases.
- Full dissertation in a single PDF file.
- A CV (max. 2 pages).
- Recommendation letter from a thesis committee member not affiliated with the applicant’s establishment.
- (For article-based theses) A letter detailing contributions to co-authored articles/chapters.
Applications should be in English, though dissertations could also be written in different languages acceptable to IMISCOE Member Institutes.
Evaluation Process
A multidisciplinary jury of IMISCOE consultants will consider nominations in two levels. The first stage includes shortlisting based mostly on dissertation summaries, whereas the second stage features a detailed evaluate by jury members and exterior evaluators.
Prize and Presentation
The winner will obtain:
- A money prize (paid to a college institutional account).
- Open Access publication of their dissertation within the IMISCOE-Springer Research Series (topic to evaluate).
- For article-based theses, one article will be revealed freed from cost in Comparative Migration Studies.
The award can be introduced on the twenty second IMISCOE Annual Conference, scheduled for July 1-4, 2025, in Paris and on-line. The winner will current their work throughout the Award Ceremony.
