Are you a sixth–ninth grade educator in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia? Step right into a transformative instructing expertise with World Smarts Changemakers, connecting your college students with friends in Guatemala for a significant digital trade program.

About the Program

World Smarts Changemakers is an revolutionary initiative that unites center and highschool college students from the U.S. and Guatemala to:

  • Engage in conversational language studying in on-line collaboration areas.
  • Solve real-world issues in binational groups, guided by academics educated in a curriculum emphasizing:
    • The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
    • Design pondering and project-based studying.
    • Effective cross-cultural communication.

Participants acquire essential abilities akin to digital literacy, cooperation, and essential pondering, culminating in a Community and Student Celebration to showcase their sustainable options and have fun their progress.

The program is supported by the Stevens Initiative (Aspen Institute, funded by the Bezos Family Foundation) and carried out by IREX in partnership with Empresarios por la Educación.

Facilitator Responsibilities

Selected facilitators will:

  • Incorporate the curriculum into class with ~20 college students, ideally suited for Dual Language, Civics, Global Studies, or project-based studying lessons.
  • Participate in digital coaching on curriculum implementation, inclusive schooling, and cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Partner with a co-facilitator in Guatemala to teach their binational workforce.
  • Facilitate digital and in-person collaboration all through the problem.

  • Applications Open: November 4, 2024

  • Notification: Mid-December 2024
  • Virtual Training: Mid-January 2025
  • Program Duration: February – May 2025

Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week
