About the Opportunity

The EU Delegation to the International Organisations in Vienna is offering funded traineeships for young graduates in the UN, OSCE, and Non-Proliferation sections. Traineeships are for up to 6 months, beginning February/March or April 2025, topic to finances availability.

Sections and Responsibilities

1. Traineeship in the UN Section

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in assembly preparation and diplomatic actions.
  • Drafting briefings, stories, and EU statements.
  • Note-taking throughout conferences.
  • Supporting public diplomacy actions.

Focus Areas: Nuclear points, medicine and crime, outer house, and growth.

2. Traineeship in the OSCE Section

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring OSCE dimensions: politico-military, financial, environmental, and human rights.
  • Assisting in EU coordination and outreach.
  • Drafting EU statements and stories.
  • Conducting analysis on EU and OSCE subjects.

Focus Areas: Security, cybercrime, terrorism, and battle decision.

3. Traineeship in the Non-Proliferation Section

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting multilateral non-proliferation agendas.
  • Drafting briefings, stories, and statements.
  • Representing the EU in worldwide fora.
  • Participating in public diplomacy.

Focus Areas: Nuclear non-proliferation, export controls, and international safety.

Eligibility and Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s diploma in International Relations, European Studies, International Law, or related fields.
  • Skills:
    • Interest in EU exterior motion and multilateral diplomacy.
    • Proficiency in English; data of French, Russian, or different UN languages is an asset.
    • Strong drafting and note-taking talents.
  • Experience: Prior expertise with worldwide organizations or diplomatic missions is a plus.
