New Role: Senior Policy Advisor for AI Policy & Governance
The Tony Blair Institute is currently seeking applications for the role of Senior Policy Advisor for AI Policy & Governance. This position is part of the Science & Technology (S&T) Policy Team within TBI’s Policy and Politics division, based in London. The role focuses on developing actionable policy solutions that help governments foster innovation, accelerate technology adoption, and ensure responsible governance of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Role Overview

The Senior Policy Advisor will lead TBI’s efforts to become a credible and influential voice in global AI policy discussions. The responsibilities include:
- Research Leadership: Developing robust policy solutions for AI safety, ethics, and governance.

Essential Qualifications:
- Proven track record in AI policy and governance within government, business, academia, or policy organizations.
- Expertise in contemporary AI policy issues, including recent developments in frontier-AI research and governance.
- Strong academic background in fields such as computer science, technology policy, AI ethics, or governance (MSc required, PhD preferred).
- Experience advising political leaders and developing actionable, impactful policy solutions.
- Extensive global network across industry, academia, and policymaking related to AI governance.
- Deep understanding of AI opportunities, risks, and ethical challenges.
- Excellent project management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to challenge conventional approaches.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with senior leaders, stakeholders, and the media.
