About the Program
The Journalism and Media Program focuses on advancing accurate, inclusive, and equitable news and narratives through support for nonprofit reporting, nonfiction multimedia storytelling, and participatory civic media. We fund innovative efforts that promote informed public discourse and foster democratic engagement.
Internship Overview
The Journalism & Media Intern will assist the team in a variety of tasks related to grantmaking, media strategy, and public engagement. This internship provides exposure to the inner workings of a major philanthropic foundation and an opportunity to contribute to projects that amplify diverse voices in journalism.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze grant proposals and meet with prospective and renewing grantees.
- Produce written analyses of work created by grantees (e.g., news articles, investigations, documentaries, podcasts).
- Conduct desk research into current trends in journalism and media.
- Attend grantee events and meetings to learn more about funded projects.
- Assist with organizing public and grantee events, as well as internal learning opportunities within the Foundation.
- Contribute to social media strategy to amplify the work of our grantee partners.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in journalism and media, with experience in or exposure to the field.
- Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in a relevant discipline (e.g., Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, or related fields).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
