Are you passionate about sharing your experiences as a refugee and advocating for a better future? UNHCR’s Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries invites refugees in Sweden to apply for the Refugee Speakers Programme 2025.
This inspiring initiative empowers individuals with a refugee background to develop their public speaking skills, share their personal stories, and advocate for the refugee cause.
About the Programme
Since its launch in 2022, the Refugee Speakers Programme has been a platform for refugees to amplify their voices with the support of expert coaches from TEDx organizations. Participants receive comprehensive training to hone their skills in storytelling, public speaking, and advocacy.
Programme Highlights:
- Workshops: Virtual sessions on public speaking, trauma-informed storytelling, the global refugee situation, and UNHCR’s work.
- One-on-One Coaching: Personalized guidance from expert coaches, either virtually or in person.
- Public Speaking Opportunities: Participants will present their stories at a UNHCR-hosted event and may be invited to additional engagements, such as schools, festivals, and community events.
Former participants have shared their stories at prestigious platforms such as Almedalen, the Gothenburg Book Fair, and Vi magazine.
